A Witchy Hello Kitty!

It's Halloween Day and I've enjoyed all the spooky, creepy, and cute holiday spirit I can take!! I had one last Halloween lunch in me for this year, using my favorite fall back. Meaning,  when all else fails and I run out of ideas, turn to my cutest buddy to help me out: Miss Hello Kitty! Look, Kitty's been playing in her Halloween makeup and today she's feeling witchy!

In this muffin tin lunch the girls had:
  1. A pumpkin chicken nugget with carrot and pea flowers
  2. A green Hello kitty witch, made with rice and pea puree. Her dress is cheese with nori detail and shes wearing a witch's hat pick
  3. A small salad of tomato wedge and curly lettuce.
  4. ketchup for dipping
  5. fruit cocktail
Here's a look at Witchy Kitty!

I used this fun bento set from Bento USA .( Check out my bento buddy Jeejee's site for all your bento tools, bentos and more!!! It's Heavenly!) Anyways, this is the fun tool I bought to make this paper doll like onigiri.

I used the bear shape and pinched the rounded ears pointy. I also flattened out the Bear's snout to have the flat surface for Kitty's face. Cant wait to play with this again...fun!

For the girls sweet tea snack I made more green Witchy Kittys!

This time Witchy Kitty is green marzipan on a plain pancake. They also had a few grapes underneath the pancake. I served this with a container of ice cold milk! Yummy!

So that's it for Halloween 2012! So glad you spent it with me, see ya next year Witchy Kitty! ^-^

Linking these meals to Muffin tin Monday. And What's for lunch Wednesday, week 127.

Having fun with Steele Lunch trays

I love muffin tin lunches, with the bits of food in each section and the element of " bento style creativity," to make eating a pleasure to children. Foods in a muffin tin also has a  nostalgic t.v. dinner feel that was always a hit with me and my little sister growing up in America. The next step
are these  stylized Steele sectioned trays. For me they're perfect; all the fun of the bento and comfort of a hot oven meal. Here are a couple I've done for the girls:

This is a lovely steel tray is from the company Din Din. It's wonderful because it can go in the oven and dishwasher. Also the sections really encourage you to use all the food groups for healthy eating! Here, they had:
  1.   a bowl of tomato soup with basil
  2.  an orange wedge mouth, slice grape tongue, cheese teeth
  3.  cheese eyes and a cherry tomato nose,
  4. two small salmon balls with cheese details and a taste of spinach hair
  5.  a little cottage cheese with cheddar cheese sliced head and ears.
The theme was parts of the body this particular week. (In the Elmo bento above was a fruit leather and peanut butter sammie, cheese and fruit for Missy Lulu's snack time at playschool.)

I couldn't resist this Hello Kitty steel tray set from Bento Craft. It even came with a cover (Shown up top) and a carrying case bag. But I will only use the trays for hot home meals for the girls. The food:
  1. Beef Stew...still using plastic bowls till Baby stops throwing them. Smh
  2. Oven fries
  3. Ketchup for dipping
  4. Sliced cucumbers and mozzarella ball on food pick
  5. Strawberries
Another lunch here:
Served:
  1.  Hello Kitty Pancake with fruit leather hair flower and cup cake decor nose
  2. Sliced oven potatoes, Ham and green beans
  3. Wilton muffin cup with nectarines and a Hello kitty cupcake ring
  4. Carrot hearts with a Hello Kitty pick
  5. Apple sauce made from our own apple tree!

I made Missy Lulu a Hello Kitty Breakfast bento this morning! She loved it, especially that she got to pour her own juice and maple syrup!
In this Hello Kitty breakfast bento she had a Hello Kitty pancake with marzipan details. She had warmed myple syrup in her little creamer server. With her Kitty pancake she had a tea cup of fruit and a glass of orange juice with extra oj in the little pink teapot! "All done, ready to play now Kitty!" ^.^

Hello Kitty Bento!

Missy Lulu got a extra girly bento for today....and here in Finland, as well as everywhere else; all the girls love Hello Kitty!! I was also inspired by Bento mommy, Different Kind of Curls mommy style lunchable. I used to love lunchables as a kid, but they were quite expensive so I rarely got them. But now my little one, who has never even seen a lunchable has a super cute one (if I say so for myself!!) In this bento we have tiny Hello Kitty shaped meat, cheese, and tortilla slices. She has a dipping sauce of Tzatziki( her favorite!)in a tiny Hello Kitty sauce cup. Veggies are cucumber, carrot spirals and tomato. For desert there are grapes and a rabbit carved apple! She really loved this one and said it was "Tosi tosi hyvä!" (Very, very good!)
Yay me! (^_^)
